The New Me
I’m not sure if any of you are aware, but I have stopped smoking.
There were several deciding factors, but the main one was receiving the results of a chest x-ray, which was completely clear. After smoking for 35 years, I was utterly floored.
I decided that this was my second chance.
Brad and I were recommended a book (thanks Simon!) called ‘Allen Carr’s Easy to Way To Stop Smoking” and we both read it. It was the turning point in both our lives. This book made it ridiculously easy to stop. It’s impossible to explain, you have to read it for yourself. If you are ready to stop smoking, read it, I promise it will change your way of thinking about stopping.
Brad and I are both overweight, and have wanted to go back on The Zone diet for some time now, but have lacked the motivation. Now that we have stopped travelling and are settling into a routine here, we have started the diet and are feeling SO good….. so good in fact that we did the unthinkable this week.
WE SIGNED UP AT A GYM! I love that it has a pool and I can swim for fitness. At this stage I am able to swim 650 metres after doing 10 minutes on a fucking Elipter *shudder*. I couldn’t have done 50 metres 3 months ago. I’m stoked!
Elipter’s need to die a horrible death, also the person who invented them, and their dog.
I want to puke just thinking about all this healthy shit…. but it feels so GOOD to feel good!

OMG! How awesome are you? Now make sure you keep a savings jar from all the $$$ you will save from tobacco! You seriously rock! Suppose the Brad Man does too!
Yay!! Am very happy and proud of yah! = ) xoxox
Awesome – both of you! I will recommend that book to my sis.
Congrats on those huge steps. I used to love swimming but now it’s been so long since I’ve done it I’d rather face the cross-trainer.
You guys will be saving a fortune from not smoking, you should put the $ away for an awesome reward in 6months time or some other significant milestone for you.
If you tell me that you stopped smoking without the need for patches and a shite load of fatty foods, I may have to murder you.
I actually cried when I realised just HOW EASY it was to stop smoking without patches and all that other crap. I too read Allan Carr’s book (may he rest in peace). I can wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who is struggling to quit. I followed his recommendation to continue smoking as I read the book and by the end I simply could not WAIT for my final ceremonial ciggie. I even buried the remainder of the packet along with my ashtray and lighter in the backyard and I have never looked back. Its been more than 5 years.
nyah nyah nyah, Kell!
Not only have we not started eating fatty foods, we’ve actually started dieting. We are just that full of the awesome.
Hey Kerri, my dear
Don’t thank me. I just feel feel grateful to have finally found that book when I did and that I’ve been able to turn a few other people onto it since. It seems so silly when I try to talk about it – almost cult-like- and yet it is so far from anything like that. It’s just (as {sceptical as I tend to be of the phrase) plain old “common sense” LOL.
Anyway, I’m just rapt that you and Brad and yours (Hi Sooz… nice to know you enjoyed it too) are all healthy and happy.
Love
Simon
Simon! It’s good to see you around
I’ve never looked back since reading it. Had a few hard days, and we have to avoid certain places in case of strong triggers, but other than that. it’s all gold!
Sooz, by the way, is a lady from Melbourne, not our Sooz LOL
